Do NOT think of yourself as a leech during this phase of FFXIV Gold your leveling!! When you are added to the party, the XP value grows (a yeti once worth 500XP can go up to 800XP), and the high-level player gets most of it (you'll get around 100, but they kill yetis FAR faster than you kill giants).
Plus, they are in no danger (Elite Yetis probably do no damage to them - or minimal at best) while you are risking your life to accompany them!
You will now spend the next 15 levels or so avoiding the monsters and getting "free" XP and picking up gold. The first few times, you'll probably die every so often, as lag or over exuberance gets you cornered by yetis...
Be sure to click "P" and check out the coordinates of your leader, then go back out and meet him (don't stop for anything, as even worms can take you out quickly!).
If you want some variety, try going over to Noria, land of the fairies. To get there, go back to Lorencia, and go to the Southeast corner (top-right). You should see a gate that leads to Noria.
